German Mate – Terms of Use
Last updated: 16 October 2026
These terms apply to the German Mate app, its test version German Mate QA, and the services behind them ("German Mate", "we"). By using German Mate you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy.
1. Who we are
German Mate is offered by Mansour Alhaddad, Remal St, Gaza 00972, Palestine, support@mansouralhaddad.com.
2. Who can use German Mate
- You must be 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth when you start.
- You may use German Mate without an account (as a guest). Speaking rooms need a signed-in account (Sign in with Apple or Google) and a level of A2 or higher from our placement test.
- Keep your Apple or Google account secure; what happens in German Mate under your account is your responsibility.
3. What German Mate offers
German Mate helps you learn German with cards, listening, exercises, a placement test, points and a weekly leaderboard, and live speaking practice with other learners.
- Levels are estimates. The placement test gives a level (A0–B2) for learning and for matching you in speaking rooms. It is not an official certificate and doesn't replace an exam such as the Goethe or telc exams.
- We keep improving German Mate and may change, add or remove features. We do our best to keep it available, but we can't promise that it will always work without interruption.
- The free version is financed by ads (see the privacy policy).
4. Rules for speaking rooms and names
German Mate is a place to practise German with respect. In speaking rooms, in your leaderboard name, and in everything else you share:
- Speak German as well as you can; everyone is learning.
- Be kind and patient. No harassment, insults, threats or bullying.
- No hate or discrimination (for example because of origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability).
- No sexual content, and no contact with anyone under 18.
- No spam, advertising or selling, and no attempts to move people to other services for that.
- No recording of other learners without their consent, and no sharing of other people's personal details.
- No cheating the placement test, points or rewards (for example with several accounts), and no attempts to disrupt or attack the service.
Report anyone who breaks these rules, in the call or afterwards. Reporting also blocks them for you.
5. What we do when rules are broken
We review reports. Depending on how serious it is, we can hide a name, take someone out of speaking rooms (this happens automatically after reports from several learners, until we've reviewed it), suspend an account, or delete it. Where it's reasonable, we tell you why. If you think we made a mistake, write to support@mansouralhaddad.com.
6. Your content
What you say in calls is live and isn't recorded. Your leaderboard name is shown to other learners. You keep your rights to what you create; you allow us to show your name and level to other learners as part of the service.
7. Our content
The course, topic cards, placement test, design and the app itself belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own learning in the app, but not copy, sell or redistribute them.
8. Ending your use
You can stop at any time and delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete account. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to by law.
9. Liability
German Mate is provided free of charge, as it is. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and where the law requires it. Otherwise our liability is limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. We are not responsible for what other learners say or do in speaking rooms, but we act on reports. Mandatory consumer rights in your country are not affected.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when German Mate changes. If a change affects you significantly, we tell you in the app before it applies. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
11. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Palestine. If you use German Mate as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
